Job Title: Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

Grade: Band 6/7

Trust: West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust

Location: Watford General Hospital, Vicarage Road, Watford, WD18 0HB

Ward/Dept: Adult Speech & Language Therapy

Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week or less

Shift Pattern: Monday Friday, 8am-4pm.

Pay Rates Day: £19.01-£23.49

We have an exciting opportunity for a band 6/7 speech and language therapist, to work within our friendly team of 7 speech and language therapists at Watford General Hospital. The role would require you to work on the acute general wards and covering stroke ward when required. This role provides an exciting opportunity to develop skills and knowledge within the areas of stroke and acute wards. You will have the opportunity to work alongside highly skilled and experienced colleagues.

Determine and carry out advanced assessments for clients and evaluate the outcome to make appropriate clinical decisions, including a differential diagnosis.

Adapt specialist care plans to the changing needs of the client integrating the clients goals, changing circumstances and any ongoing assessment information.

Assess needs, identify appropriate equipment (including high- and low-tech communication aids), coordinate trials/purchase of equipment, introduce augmentative communication equipment to the clients and carers and to monitor changing needs for appropriate clients.

Qualifications

Essential

  • The ideal candidate should have achieved dysphagia training and should be skilled in managing complex dysphagia patients.
  • Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree.
  • Registered HCPC.
