A-Z OF SERVICES

Orthoptics is a health science that involves the study of the visual system, with an emphasis on conditions which affect eye muscles and movements and binocular vision. It uses special technology and tests to investigate the patient’s vision, and to determine the type and extent of eye disease or disorder. It assesses the patients surgical and non-surgical requirements and is often used to guide ophthalmic medical care.

Orthoptics Jobs

Orthoptists work independently or in multidisciplinary teams in a range of settings, including hospitals, private practices, and community health clinics. They work with both adults and children to examine, diagnose, and treat eye diseases and conditions. Orthoptists work collaboratively with Ophthalmologists to investigate and manage eye disorders and manage patient care, including pre and post operative care. Orthoptists have undertaken a Bachelor of Orthoptics, or Master of Orthoptics after a relevant health science degree, and are registered with the HCPC.
