Job summary

We are based in a purpose built surgery in beautiful West Berkshire on the outskirts of Reading. Theale has good links to London, Oxford and the south coast and excellent schools locally.

We are a friendly, forward thinking, well organised training and dispensing practice with a practice population of nearly 11,500 in a pleasant semi-rural location.

We are keen to support GP career development and would encourage you to establish and build on any special interest areas.

Main duties of the job

  • Patient consultations over the phone and within the surgery.
  • Monitor patients' conditions and wellbeing.
  • Perform clinical examinations.
  • Diagnosis and treatment of illnesses/ailments.
  • Conduct tests to diagnose (eg urine sample testing)
  • Health education.
  • Liaise with other healthcare professionals from multi disiplinary teams.

Job responsibilities

Responsibilities

Provide skilled health assessment, diagnosis and treatment services to patients

Order diagnostic tests as needed, checking and informing patients of results as per clinics procedure.

Refer patients appropriately to other providers if their needs exceed the range of care you are able to provide.

Consult and collaborate with colleagues to provide optimal care.

Document all care provided and education/information given to patients within their health record, as per clinics procedure.

To maintain good medical practice:

Maintain professional knowledge and standards through continuing medical education and personal professional development.

Have a working knowledge of legislation and standards of General Practice.

Practice medicine in a way that reflects the company’s values and mission.

Maintain trust (professional relationships with patients)

Provide services courteously and respectfully, with regard to the cultural beliefs and needs of patients

Respond openly and following up complaints or feedback.

Work collaboratively with colleagues

Collaborate in regard to rosters and providing cover to ensure patients’ needs are met.

Work constructively and harmoniously with all staff to ensure patients receive optimal care.

Maintain integrity in professional practice

Return phone calls in timely manner

Complete documents i.e. medical reports in a timely manner

Demonstrate a working knowledge of company policy with regard to clinical practice.
