Main duties of the job

Front Door Streamer

Were seeking Front Door Streamers to join our brand new clinically led team of health care professionals to work within the Urgent & Emergency Care Centre at Ipswich Hospital due to open September 2024.

The purpose built, state of the art UECC will allow for Suffolk GP Federation and ESNEFT staff to work collaboratively across fully equipped clinic rooms, allowing a true multi-disciplinary workforce. The UECC will provide the new front door service at Ipswich Hospital, and will allow for the quick assessment and direction of patients to the appropriate care, maximising the ability to stream patients who would otherwise attend the Emergency Department directly.

Contract type:

The service is delivered in a way that allows you to design your own rota, to fit around other commitments and preferences. There will be the possibility for casual work on an ad hoc basis or if youre after something more concrete, the option for contracted shifts on a regular basis. The choice is yours we want to allow our clinicians to build their own schedule!

Youll be fully supported by an administration team, senior management, and our rota team to allow you to focus on delivering high quality patient care.

Job title: Front Door Streamer

Reports to: Associate Clinical Lead

Place of work: UECC Department - Ipswich Hospital

Job Purpose

As part of the ED Streaming Team, the main purpose of the role is to meet and greet all patients attending the front door of the Urgent and Emergency Care Centre (UECC) and ascertain the best place for that patient to receive care.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

To work as part of the streaming team at the UECC department.

To would work alongside UECC staff, the streaming clinician, and the streaming administrator.

To meet and greet all patients attending the front door of the UECC department

To carry out a short assessment on every patient to ascertain the best place for that patient to receive care. This may be in the UECC department, with the streaming clinician, in the minor injury service or may require directing the patient to a community service such as a pharmacy.

To be responsible for escalating issues such as long waiting times and busy waiting rooms to the appropriate person.

To participate in various audits carried out on front door activity.

To join, if desired, regular meetings to discuss the development of the existing service.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Training

Essential

  • Registered Health Care Professional (HCPC / NMC)
  • Willingness to undertake further training

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Experienced health care professional with a proven track record or working in primary or urgent care.
  • Knowledge of how to undertake a simple primary assessment, and able to identify a seriously ill patient.

Skills & Abilities

Essential

  • Able to navigate patients to the most appropriate service to meet their care needs.
  • Able to utilise existing pathways in the UECC.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

Desirable

  • Actively participate in service development
