St Anselms Nursing Home is a privately-run nursing care home all about providing person-centred care for our residents.

Were looking for a Nursing Care Home Manager who has a genuine passion for care and is ready to make a difference.

St Anselms Nursing home is a 26 bed home in Walmer, Kent. We are an independent, family-run business, that's been providing person-centred residential nursing care for over 30 years.

Main duties of the job

Your responsibility to the home will require:

Managing the home efficiently on a daily basis in compliance with relevant laws and inline with CQC standards

Promoting service users good health in a least restrictive approach and good working practices.

Leading by instilling our core values within your role, around the home and among staff members by being able to:

Support your team in meeting the personal care needs of service users working as a registered nurse on the floor 24 hours per week and ensure sure that the home has adequate supplies of medication.

Demonstrate your passion for caring in creating a lively, fun atmosphere within the home by encouraging and at times instigating social activities and engaging with the local community.

Ensure the homes compliance CQC Guidelines and policies, cooperating during CQC inspections, and investigating and acting upon any complaints made, reporting them to the appropriate body.

Show dedication to residents, developing relationships with them and their families, making sure staff work together to maintain good standards of hygiene and cleanliness and safety within the home.

Be empathetic when speaking to others within the home and towards personal preferences when planning social events and activities, and involving HC Professionals where appropriate).

You will be expected to work two 12 hour nursing shifts per week and 13 hours office based.

Several of our staff have worked with us since the home opened in 1987 and their family members have also come to work with us.

Job responsibilities

This role is 40 hours per week. You will be expected to complete two 12.25 hour nursing shifts within the home each week as well as 15 hours which will be office based, you would be expected to work across 5 days per week.

There may be occasions when emergencies arise, for any additional hours worked during a week you will be given time of in lieu.

Other Key Aspects of your Role:

  • To ensure the emotional, spiritual, physical, medical and material needs of the service users are recognised, assessed and met.
  • To support staff and work with the office manager to ensure CQC and legislation compliance. To make ensure that you are aware of any guidance changes with regards to health and social care and that the home is working within the guidlines.
  • To oversee the safe handling, storage and administration of medicines in accordance with the agreed policy and recommendations issued by the PCN pharmacist and CQC.
  • To ensure that daily written reports, events, service users care plans, recording changes of condition, and visits from other professional practitioners are completed by the person in charge or the shift.
  • To form good relationships within the community, with Placement teams, local authorities, and professionals to establish open communication and continual referrals.
  • To form good relationships with family and friends of our service users, whilst maintaining professionalism.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ Level 5 in leadership and management for care
  • services. (Be working towards or willing to undertake)
  • To be knowledgeable regarding Health & Safety at work, including environmental health
  • Must be an RGN or RMN with a good record of working well with vulnerable/elderly adults
  • Satisfactory DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) check and DBS First
  • Basic understanding of the Health & Safety at Work Act
  • Basic understanding of Infection Control

Desirable

  • Registered general or Mental health nurse with valid PIN and no restrictions on practice.
