Job summary

This is a 1wte post for a Locum Consultant in Dermatology at the Royal United Hospital, Bath. This post is a fixed term contract for an initial period of twelve months.

An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and ambitious individual to join a dynamic team of Consultants. The post holder should have an interest in providing General Medical Dermatology services, skin cancer services and Tele Dermatology.

Main duties of the job

The holder of this post will be a 1wte Locum Consultant Dermatologist for a period of four months initially, and will be expected to provide principally a general dermatology service to include acute medical dermatology for inpatients of all ages including children.

The post will be based at the RUH. Flexibility to undertake clinics in different formats will be expected (Tele Dermatology, face to face, surgical lists, telephone and video consultations and remotely held joint clinics). There is flexibility to work some of this activity remotely from home, especially for SPA and admin time.

The appointee is expected to participate in teaching and training of 3rd year medical students from Bristol University, junior Medical and Nursing staff, GPs, Clinical Fellows and Specialty doctors, registrars and other clinical staff groups.

Qualifications

Essential

  • MRCP or equivalent
  • Full GMC Registration with licence to practice

Desirable

  • MD or PHD

Experience

Essential

  • Clinical training & experience for gaining UK CCST in Dermatology (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge & experience of outpatient Dermatology and management of acute dermatoses, chronic dermatoses, paediatric dermatology & skin cancer

Desirable

  • Supervised training in an appropriate StR training programme or equivalent
  • Ability to manage and lead strategic developments in service delivery
