We are currently looking for multiple full-time Cardiology Allied Health Managers (Health Practitioner Level 5) to join the dynamic team at Canberra Hospital, Australia for a 12-month contract with possible extension.

The Cardiology Allied Health Manager (Cardiac Physiology) is a senior leadership role that provides daily management to the cardiac physiology team. The role supports staff in the provision of a high-quality cardiac physiology service and includes people management, providing expert strategic leadership, maintaining relationships at a professional and operational level within CHS and with other local health networks and tertiary partnerships, and promoting a positive workplace and academic culture. The role is required to support the Unit Director Cardiology in the provision of a 24/7 cardiology service and work in collaboration with the Allied Health Manager (Cardiac Sonography). The position requires the performance of clinical duties equivalent to at least 0.6 FTE.

Under limited direction of the Unit Director, Cardiology you will perform a senior leadership role. You will:

  • Provide leadership and management of the Cardiac Physiology workforce including facilitating performance management, achieving key performance indicators and service delivery targets, rostering, recruitment, training, and continuing education that promotes a safe and positive workplace culture.
  • Manage Cardiology equipment acquisition, maintenance, and replacement, involving tenders and contracts, budget applications, expenditure reports and inventory management, specific to Cardiac Physiology service delivery.
  • In collaboration with the stakeholders develop and implement cardiology specific protocols and policies with adherence to standard operating procedures, including those for clinical procedures, staff and patient safety, and equipment functioning.
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation. As a Senior member of the team, working collaboratively with administrative, nursing, and medical staff, as well as important leader within the unit.  Attendance at departmental business meeting and leadership team meetings and regular communication with Director of Cardiology
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.

Lead, manage and supervise the Cardiac Physiology workforce including:

  • Supervision of current cardiac physiologists, providing a focus on education, research, and service development.
  • Clinical duties as needed dependent on service demands and staffing levels.
  • Design, implementation, and evaluation of clinical service delivery and quality improvement initiatives.
