Job summary

The Knares Medical Practice is looking to recruit a professional, conscientious and highly effective GP to join their friendly team. We are happy to recruit a GP on a salaried basis or someone looking for partnership. Working days/hours can be discussed.

This role reports to the partners (clinically) and the practice manager (administratively). The overall purpose of the role is to provide NHS personal medical services to registered patients on the practice list. The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

Main duties of the job

Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems.
Screen patients for disease risk factors & early signs of illness.
Develop care plans for health.
Respond to medical problems presented by temporary residents.
Assess the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated & undiagnosed problems.
Assist in the establishment of appropriate systems to manage common chronic medical conditions.
Complete clinically related administrative & non-clinical duties needed for the delivery of the service.
Provide counselling & health education.
Refer patients for further opinions & interventions.
Record clear & contemporaneous consultation notes.
Compile & issue computer-generated acute & repeat prescriptions.
Prescribe in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary.
Participate in training plans of medical students.
Maintain, monitor & update computer database & management of medical records & practice audits
Ensure that practice clinical database is updated promptly and accurately with information relating to patient records,as required for clinical accuracy & for practice recording requirements.
Make the appropriate use of read codes.
Participate in the collection & collation of statistics towards the preparation of practice reports, performance monitoring & audits
Participate in the auditing of practice activity
The post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties & responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

The Knares Medical Practice is a small practice located in Basildon with a practice list size of 8027 patients. We are a friendly team with a very supportive group of GP Partners who provide clinical services for the practice population along with salaried GPs and other clinical staff.

Qualifications

Essential

Fully qualified GP with GMC registration
Annual appraisal and revalidation (when appropriate)
Be on the NHSE medical performers list

Experience

Essential

Good understanding and experience of chronic disease management and primary prevention & screening services;
Ability to take responsibility for your own career development, learning and performance and are responsible for ensuring that all your mandatory training is in date;
Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety;
Commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice;
Excellent inter-personal and communication skills in a confidential manner.
