An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled Specialist Safeguarding Practitioner to join the Safeguarding Children and Adult's Team within Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCft).

The post holder will be based at Daisyfield Mill in Blackburn and there is an expectation that they would be and able to travel across the LSCft footprint to other LSCft bases as required.

The Safeguarding Team also work a hybrid model so there would be opportunities for the post holder to work from home as well as being office based over the working week. Any working from home days would need to be agreed with the post holder's manager, whilst still meeting the needs of the service.

The remit of the role will be to provide a safeguarding point of contact for The Bay network together with undertaking safeguarding core duties across the organisation. We are looking for a nurse with experience of working within safeguarding.

Working within a multi-professional / agency context the successful applicant will provide expert training, supervision and advice to health and social care practitioners on a wide range of safeguarding issues that impact on children, young people, adults and their families. The role will be underpinned by a sound knowledge of the legal frameworks that shape the safeguarding agenda including The Children Act (1989; 2004), The Care Act (2014), The Mental Health Act (1983) and The Mental Capacity Act (2005).

Main duties of the job

Safeguarding is integral to governance arrangements within LSCft and we are looking for someone with leadership experience and a track record in providing high standards of care to the most vulnerable children and adults in our society. The successful applicant must demonstrate a passion for safeguarding children, adults and their families and share the teams commitment to deliver services that are reliable, of high quality and safe in an area of work that is demanding, challenging yet extremely rewarding.

The successful applicant will support the development of single and multi-agency, safeguarding policies, procedures and clinical practice, ensuring practice is current and up to date in line with local and national priorities. The applicant will be required to support organisational safeguarding arrangements, contribute to the trust's quality and assurance framework and support the team in fulfilling statutory safeguarding duties outlined by the Think Family Safeguarding Agenda

The post holder will work closely with the Named Nurses and Named Professionals for Safeguarding Children, Adults and MCA to ensure appropriate quality assurance mechanisms are in place and to assist in the development of skills and competencies of the LSCft workforce.
