Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled and motivated candidate to take up the post of Locum Consultant Neurologist based largely within the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board in South Wales and with some duties provided from University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.

Applicants should preferably either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within three months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview.

You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales. The basic salary for this post is £105,401 per annum.

Applicants must ensure they provide names and contact details of referees covering at least the last 3 years of their employment/training history in full. In addition, applicants who are currently or have most recently been employed as a substantive Consultant or as a Locum Consultant in post for more than 12 months must also provide the name of their Medical Director as an additional referee.

Main duties of the job

Neurology services within Cwm Taf are currently provided from the Cardiff and Vale but all clinical activity will take place in Cwm Taf hospitals with the primary objective of managing current outpatient waiting lists.

The post holder will be expected to provide specialist neurological support to the in-patients on the medical wards at Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant, and run weekly outpatient clinics across Cwm Taf sites.

Candidates with a sub-specialty interest in the areas of Headache and Epilepsy are welcomed although those with other sub-specialty interests are also encouraged to apply.

Although this post is full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements.
