Job summary

We are looking for an inspirational leader with strong clinical skills and knowledge in the field of neurodevelopmental occupational therapy who can take on and grow the current service.

You will be providing expert clinical supervision to the current team and helping to grow and expand the team through robust recruitment.

Main duties of the job

This is a mixed clinical and leadership role supporting the Head of Health service and Associate Director for Health to deliver an exceptional quality and cost effective occupational therapy service which meets performance targets against quality and productivity measures.

We are seeking an experienced team leader or senior therapist to manage and grow a team of therapists covering Richmond and Kingston working in arange of settings. This will involve networking to create new relationships and require flexibility to align with emerging delivery models within the education and health sectors.

As the Lead Paediatric Occupational Therapist you will have the ability to inspire and manage a team to ensure they deliver high quality occupational therapy interventions and will work with others to improve organisational performance.

Qualifications

  • Diploma/BSc/Graduate Diploma/MSc in Occupational Therapy
  • Active HCPC registration and documented evidence of CPD (maintained portfolio)
  • Additional short specialist courses relevant to paediatrics

Skills and experience

  • Comprehensive post qualifying clinical experience working in paediatrics
  • Knowledge of current best practice in paediatric OT and evidence of its application in assessment planning, implementing and evaluating treatment
  • Experience of undertaking complex assessment and treatment with a wide variety of children and young people presenting with significant and complex needs
  • Experience of providing clinical supervision (individual and group)
  • Experience of training school staff and acting as a role model for junior staff
  • Experience of managing the performance and welfare of others
  • Working knowledge of clinical governance and audit including its implementation
  • Highly developed communication skills in a range of formats to a diverse audience, including highly sensitive and complex information
  • Highly developed people management skills with the ability to motivate, develop and inspire others as well as manage performance, sickness and welfare as required
  • Ability to monitor operational processes within the service and know when to escalate or take action
  • Working knowledge of legislation and its implication for both clinical practice and professional management in relation to children and young people
  • Experience of addressing specific equality or diversity issues within your practice with colleagues/service users and taking action to solve them.

Experience

Essential

  • Highly motivated to deliver change, build relationships and work with the head of health and Associate Director for Health to create a team that will provide outstanding services for the local children and young people population. Highly developed clinical expertise with demonstrable experience of working as a paediatric occupational therapist. You will carry a small caseload alongside providing clinical supervision and leadership and will support the selection and employment of staff within the budget.
