Petersfield Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC)

Are you an experienced emergency care staff nurse or paramedic looking for a new challenge and the opportunity to progress your career in the field of Urgent Care?

We are a practitioner led service, supported by remote GP's, committed to delivering high quality urgent care to the local population of Petersfield and the surrounding areas. The UTC is open 08:00 -- 20:00 hours, 365 days a year, offering treatment for both minor injury and minor illness to adults and children over the age of one. Patients can pre-book appointments through NHS 111 as well as walk-in attendance.

The role will predominantly be that of triage nurse, the first point of contact for patients attending the department. Patients will be assessed on arrival in accordance with national and local guidelines to ensure patient safety and prioritise their need for practitioner assessment.

Previous experience in an unscheduled care setting either as a registered nurse or paramedic with sound clinical assessment skills, demonstrable leadership along with an ability to demonstrate compassion and a commitment to learning new skills are all essential to the role. You will be required to support colleagues and the practitioner in charge of the shift to deliver safe and effective patient care, including assisting in patient's treatments. You must demonstrate a good understanding and implementation of Governance, both clinical and information.

Main duties of the job

To provide professional, high-quality care to patients and their families throughout their time in the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC).

To provide safe and effective initial assessment / advice to patients attending the department, in line with national and local guidelines and pathways.

Assist in the assessment of patients care needs, management of treatment and evaluation of clinical interventions, under the supervision of the nurse / paramedic practitioner, always working within scope of practice.

To support the nurse / paramedic practitioners in the delivery of direct patient care.

*Contribute to the development and evaluation of clinical practice within the UTC.

*To contribute to the smooth running of the department.
