We are looking to recruit Registered or student Band 5 Staff Nurses to join the enthusiastic team on the Acute Medical Unit. Job Summary:

Be responsible for the assessment of care needs, the planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care;Supervise junior staff and to participate in the teaching of students on both basic and post basic courses;Maintain his/her personal and professional development;Participate in effective utilisation of resources;Act in accordance with the NMC Professional Code of Conduct.

Main duties of the job

Our Acute Medical Unit has 50 inpatient beds. All patients are triaged on arrival and cared for in the most appropriate setting. Acute Medicine nursing will provide plenty of opportunity to grow and develop within your career. Gaining exposure to a variety of patients and skills in specialties such as Cardiovascular, Gastroenterology, Respiratory care and much more.

Previous nurses who've worked on this unit have gone on to roles such as advanced nurse practitioner and specialist nurses, along with higher band progression. Main duties:

1. Act as the team leader for a group of patients2. Participate in the supervision for junior nurses and unregistered staff3. Report all accidents/untoward incidents and ensuring relevant documentation is completed.4. Undertake delegated responsibilities from the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.5. Develop an awareness of the cost implications and exercise economy when using or ordering medical supplies.6. Participate in the investigation of complaints and incidents.7. Participate in the promotion of safety, well-being and interests of the patients, staff and all visitors to the clinical area.8. Participate in the appraisal system.

This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as an Registered Nurse or Midwife in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled on a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC PIN within the next 3 months. Please note an NMC PRN PIN is not a full NMC PIN and would not fulfil the essential criteria for this role.
