Emergency Medicine, Acute Medicine & HSEP ( Health Services for Elderly People) Junior Clinical Fellow - Rotational post.

Applications are invited for Junior Clinical Fellows (ST1/2 equivalent) in Emergency Medicine, Acute medicine and HSEP (Health services for Elderly People) to commence in August 2024 subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks. Full GMC registration is required. It would be desirable to have previous medical or acute medical experience. Candidates based in the UK with full GMC registration and evidence of work undertaken in the UK will be given preference as service requirements require the post to be filled imminently.

The post would be well suited to those looking to bridge the gap between foundation and speciality training or for trainees and junior clinical fellows who simply wish to gain more experience in adult acute and general medicine. The post allows candidates to rotate through Emergency medicine, Acute and General medicine and Elderly Care (HSEP) based on their interests and personal development plan.

This position is also ideal for those interested in strengthening their clinical knowledge and experience, taking advantage of a full range of in-house educational opportunities all whilst simultaneously enhancing your portfolio. The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic and innovative team to further enhance the delivery of unscheduled care within our acute medical wards and ED.

Main duties of the job

The post will rotate every 4 months through these specialties. We feel this will be of great value to anyone seeking a career in medical specialties or Emergency medicine.

The Division of Acute Medicine, Emergency Medicine and HSEP offers;

Co-located CT scanning, on site x-ray, full diagnostic laboratory services,

  • Acute assessment unit, Acute medical ward (8N), HSEP wards,
  • EM Led Same Day Emergency Care
  • Medical SDEC facilities
  • TREAT - Triage and Rapid Elderly Assessment Team
  • Consultant supervision cover from 8:00 am to 11pm 7 days a week. - EM
  • Consultant led ward rounds and clinics in Acute Medicine and HSEP
  • Dedicated Paediatric ED with 24/7 senior level paediatric cover
  • 30-bedded AAU ward with integrated MDT working with Acute medicine and elderly care.
  • Urgent care centre for injuries, minor illness with an integrated GP hub
  • Specialist services clinics - Parkinsons, Falls, Medical SDEC care, HOT clinics (admission avoidance).

Experience

  • Evidence of appropriate general and acute medical experience +/- speciality
