Job summary

Maternity services at the Northern Care Alliance are delighted to announce the relaunch of the birth centre, providing compassionate and holistic care to our families. As part of the transformation of services we are looking for midwives who are dynamic and passionate about providing care in a midwife led setting. We wish to promote a philosophy of holistic, individualised care in a safe and calm home from home environment.

Main duties of the job

Carry responsibility for providing the highest standards of midwifery care to women in an alongside birth centre hospital setting.

Working as part of an MDT and within your scope of practice.

Assess, develop, implement and evaluation care programmes and provide professional advice and support as required.

Organize and manage, in collaboration with the MDT, the care of the women accessing the Birth Centre and Labour Ward

Monitor, evaluate and action test results in line with trust policy.

Liaise with the multi-disciplinary and multi-agency teams to ensure women receive a high-quality care.

This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as an Registered Nurse or Midwife in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled on a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC PIN within the next 3 months. Please note an NMC PRN PIN is not a full NMC PIN and would not fulfil the essential criteria for this role.

The NCA can no longer accept applications from International Nurses and Midwives who are yet to complete all competencies needed to receivea full NMC PIN to practice in the UK as we have paused our OSCE programme indefinitely. Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • UK NMC Registered Midwife
  • Degree/Diploma in Midwifery

Desirable

  • Practice Assessor

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Current Experience in Midwifery Practice
  • Clinical skills as required within the role e.g. cannulation, perineal suturing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Evidence of acting as a supervisor/assessor

Desirable

  • Evidence of multidisciplinary working
  • Time management skills
