Specimen Reception - Band 6 Pathology Service Delivery Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen in Blood Sciences within the NHS East and South East London Pathology Partnership (ESEL). We are a new organisation, jointly owned by Barts Health NHS Trust, Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. Set up as an arms-length organisation, hosted by Barts Health NHS Trust, we have our own board and governance framework, with each of the three trusts having an equal voice and vote in the running of the Pathology Partnership. One of the largest pathology providers in the NHS, the Pathology Partnership brings together the strengths of teams from each of the three trusts into a single organisation, dedicated to the provision of high quality and cost-effective pathology services.

A complex transformation programme is concluding to establish a single, integrated pathology network between 7 hospital laboratories. The aspired 'hub and spoke' operating model is centred at The Royal London Hospital (RLH); a busy major trauma centre which hosts the London Air Ambulance, and connects to essential service laboratories supporting various clinical specialities at our partnered hospital sites.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a Service Delivery Manager to join our team at Royal London Hospital to support the provision of our Pathology services on the site.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the Departmental Lead, Service Manager and Divisional Manager to deliver effective Central Reception Services across all sites in the Pathology Partnership. The Service Delivery Manager will have site(s) based responsibility for managing reception services to agreed KPI's and will work with the Departmental Lead, Service Manager and Divisional Manager to ensure there are effective systems in place for the management of all reception staff. The post holder will be expected to ensure individual requirements are met and that everyone is treated with courtesy and respect. Applicants must have a strong team ethos, with a positive attitude to working in a flexible manner, committed to supporting the clinical services of the Trust and meeting the needs of our patients.
