Job summary

A unique and exciting aspiring consultant post opportunity has arisen at Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT) in the field of Children and Young Peoples Mental Health.

You will be a clinical expert in the field of children and young people's mental health. The role will take a leadership and strategic function in advising, developing and ensuring the delivery of high quality Occupational Therapy practice across all CYPMH community teams and inpatient site, The Cove.

You will be part of a highly skilled multi-disciplinary senior leadership team.

In addition, the post holder will play a lead role in the development and delivery of services across CYPMH, which are recovery focussed.

The post holder will be an Occupational Therapist; however will have leadership responsibility for Allied Health Professionals within CYPMH.

Main duties of the job

To reflect the core functions of an Occupational Therapy Consultant:

  • An expert clinical practice function, holding a complex caseload and supporting OT's across the services
  • A professional leadership and consultancy function, leading on the delivery of the Occupational Therapy clinical pathway
  • An education, training and development function, dedicated to improving knowledge of you and others
  • A practice and service development research and evaluation function, with a strong empathies on quality improvement
  • Enabler of transformation and new ways of working towards recovery for service users and staff. Contribute on behalf of the OT workforce to the programme of Community Transformation.
  • Developing OT peer support networks across CYPMH services

As an aspiring consultant, you will be supported using the consultant framework to develop a plan of support to achieve the requirements of the consultant role.

Qualifications

Essential

  • HCPC Registered Allied Health Professional in appropriate field of specialty
  • Master's degree in health related subject, relevant to area of clinical expertise, in progress or working towards.
  • Level 7 study or equivalent study in specialty related subject
  • Evidence of continuing personal learning and development

Knowledge

Essential

  • Advanced knowledge in professional practice relating to service area.
  • Good Understanding of the role of partner organisations
  • Thorough understanding of the policy/standards agenda in relation to practice, and an understanding of the broader policy drivers pertinent to healthcare delivery
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of contemporary, evidence-based practice and best practice

Experience

Essential

  • Extensive post professional qualifying clinical experience providing highly advanced clinical skills within a senior position
  • Clinical leadership and change management
  • Effective working across organisational boundaries in the development and provision of services
  • Evidence of significant contribution to clinical developments
  • Involvement in research, audit and clinical effectiveness
