Job summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Salaried GP to join our team working five sessions per week.

You will work closely with our team to provide our patients with the highest standards of care.

Salary is competitive.

Our main practice is located in Knottingley with our branch surgery at Eggborough, both sitting near to the M62.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conducting consultations with patients to assess their medical needs and provide appropriate treatment and advice.
  2. Performing clinical examinations and diagnostic procedures as required.
  3. Prescribing medications and monitoring patient response to treatment.
  4. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical records.
  5. Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions.
  6. Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
  7. Participating in quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits to enhance patient outcomes and service delivery.

About us

Ash Grove Medical Centre is CQC rated 'Good' across all five areas. We are a large GP Practice with 13,000 patient based in Knottingley with a branch surgery at Eggborough.

Ash Grove Medical Centre is led by four GP Partners working along side the Practice Manager.

Our team is supported by a large clinical and non clinical team.

Job responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

  • As agreed in co-operative practice with colleagues, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone/video consultations, visiting patients at home, on call, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion. To include the designated share of workflow and pathology reports.
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
  • Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Engaging with activities such as QOF, DES/IIF and other additional work essential for providing a full service for patients.
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.
  • In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plan for health.
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
  • In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within Primary Care.
  • Providing counselling and health education.
  • Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
  • Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary, or generically whenever clinically appropriate.

  • Awareness of compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines - Prescribing, CQC, Confidentiality, data protection, health & safety.
  • Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation.
  • A commitment to learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice.
  • Contributing to the housekeeping and updating of computer based patient records.
  • Contributing to read coding patient data.
  • To comply with the practice IT policy.
  • Attending training and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Clinical governance delivery of QOF targets.
  • Self- audit and reflection.
  • Organised and efficient in record keeping and completion of paper work.
  • Excellent time management, being able to priorities work and work under pressure.
  • Computer literacy and excellent communication skills.
  • Good people skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to providing patient centred care and promoting health and wellbeing.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Willingness to participate in continuous professional and development activities.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Fully qualified General Practitioner registered with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Evidence of annual appraisal and revalidation.
  • On medical performers list.
  • Clean driving licence.
  • Complete an enhanced DBS check.
  • Previous experience working as a GP in primary care settings.

Desirable

  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Long term condition training such as Diabetes, Respiratory, Coronary Heart Disease, Chronic Kidney Disease.
