£11,500 a session

General Practitioner

Job summary

Due to rising list size and GP retirement, Watton Medical Practice is looking to recruit a GP in a salaried role, ideally covering between 6-8 sessions per week. We are also looking to cover a maternity leave so happy to discuss a contract role.

The practice is part of the Breckland Alliance PCN consisting of three practices Grove Surgery and School Lane Surgery from Thetford and Watton Medical Practice. Our GP partners are based across all three sites.

We are a dynamic team, fully integrated with the digital triage model, who constantly look for ways to utilise technology to best serve our patients. Our admin support is pivotal to this digital-based care delivery and they are trained to the highest level. We embody the concept of a full multidisciplinary team including several GPs, clinical pharmacist, two advanced paramedic practitioners, two nurse practitioners (one of whom is dedicated to care home management), social prescriber, physio and a full nursing team including mental health nurses, HCAs, etc.

We are passionate in our intention to help build the future of general practice and currently have both physician associate and medical student placements. We are keen to start GP training and are open to new ideas.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic team worker, who values communication with colleagues and patients.

This would be an exciting opportunity for either a newly qualified or an experienced GP. We value special interests, so there would be the opportunity to build a portfolio career that includes research, teaching, commissioning, minor surgery, vasectomy and any other services that would optimise patient care and that are of interest to you.

About us

Watton Medical Practice is a busy practice in Thetford, which offers affordable housing, a vibrant community & good amenities. It is a growing South Norfolk market town, not far from the coast and the city of Norwich.

Our building is modern, purpose-built & spacious which allows us to be able to adapt services for our ever-growing list size. Our clinical team consists of GPs, paramedic, advanced nurse practitioner, practice nurses & healthcare assistant. We are recruiting to grow this team. We enjoy supporting the learning of others including trainee nursing associates, paramedics and physicians associates.

We are part of an innovative and joined up PCN with a recent example being our combined effort to implement the Covid vaccination clinic, at the Thetford Healthy Living Centre, which allowed patients across all sites to be vaccinated at a PCN designated site. Our PCN is taking a proactive approach to the integrated care board (ICB) formation & have partners on the local medical committee (LMC).

Our latest CQC rating was Good across all categories & we are continuously striving to develop & deliver quality care. The wellbeing of our colleagues is vital to our operational model. We stress the importance of a healthy work life balance & provide support to our team with this including flexible working & staff social gatherings.
