Job summary

Would you like to join a friendly, dynamic & supportive service with scope to work within Exeter Community Rehab (ECR), Neuro Rehab and Urgent Community Response (UCR) based in one hub in Central & East Exeter?

We are seeking a Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our team for a period of 7 months. This can be either as a fixed term contract or secondment. If you are applying for a secondment, please seek your line managers approval to be released in a timely way.

We aim to provide high quality care to maximise independence and quality of life at home through a strength-based approach. This is completed within a supportive network of experienced therapists offering a structured induction, time to shadow other community teams, peer support groups and opportunities for career development.

The focus of rehabilitation is paramount to patients which we are proud to support through; individual patient assessments/treatments and rehabilitation groups for strength, balance and neurological conditions. We provide a variety of settings for patient treatments including within their own homes, care homes and gym spaces (NHS and Leisure Centres). In addition, we carry out virtual assessments and treatments facilitating the plan for the NHS digital transformation.

We are also supporting the National Ageing Well Agenda within the NHS Long Term Plan and this provides you with the chance to be at the forefront of change within Exeter.

Your caseload involves a variety of patients to be seen, including and not exclusively:

  • Working with patients with longer term conditions
  • Neurological conditions
  • Respiratory conditions
  • Trauma, orthopaedic and musculoskeletal conditions
  • Moving and handling including equipment prescription
  • Patients in Short Term Rehabilitation Beds within Residential and Nursing Homes

There will be an opportunity to provide clinical supervision to rotational staff members as well as clinical support workers.

The successful candidate will be an autonomous practitioner who is confident with lone working. You will require excellent communication skills, with the ability to prioritise, problem solve and be a team player who is adaptable to change.

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 8.30 - 16.30 typically. The UCR function covers 8am - 8pm across 7 day working and provides a 2 hour response to admission avoidance patients within the community, as well as continuing with the discharge to assess pathway. This post holder would be required to work on a rota basis within these hours.
