Job summary

Carers in Bedfordshire are looking for a Project Manager Lead either full time (35 hours/week) or part time (28 hours/week minimum).

As our client base continues to grow, we are looking for a Project Lead to join our leads team. You will be responsible for directing, managing, and coordinating high level, quality projects for carers, leading the delivery throughout the day-to-day operational project management to time and budget.

Within this role you will work with a variety of staff and volunteers andbe involved in everything from strategic advice through to more day-to-day operational elements for specific projects.

Your skills will include fastidious attention to detail, excellent problem-solving abilities, and you'll thrive on multi-tasking, switching between projects and stakeholders.

You will have:

  • At least two years of project management experience
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills
  • Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build a strong rapport with clients, key stakeholders, and internal teams
  • Good presentation skills and experience of facilitating - and leading where required - client meetings and workshops

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for producing project proposals, coordinating resource, tracking project performance, reporting on milestones and deliverables, and ensuring everything is run to time and budget.

Quality of deliverables will be paramount, whilst ensuring work is delivered making the most impact for carers.

In addition to your project management experience, you will have the ability to build relationships with and manage teams of specialist staff within Health and Wellbeing. You will support them with line management and proactively demonstrate the high value at all times.

Duties and responsibilities:

Project Management

  • Leading and planning the implementation of new projects and business opportunities
  • Meeting with staff and volunteers to clarify requirements and expectations.
  • Developing detailed projects plans. Budget and timelines
  • Ensuring resource availability and allocation meet Carers in Bedfordshires strategic aims and goals.
  • Leading the delivery of key projects through the day-to day operational project management to time and budget
  • Support the development of Carers in Bedfordshire through capacity building, quality assurance, good governance, sound financial management, business planning etc.
  • Prepare quarterly reports for each contract and other funders as required with assistance from the Operations Manage
  • Ensure all services are delivered within budgetary constraints working with Finance colleagues, Operations Manager and the CEO
  • Where there is underspend or overspend to effectively project manage in appropriate timescales
  • Contribute to service and organisational development, problem solve and overcome barriers to contracts, manage conflicting demands.
  • Assist Carers in Bedfordshire to develop links with relevant strategic networks locally and regionally

Current Project Delivery Requirements

  • Ensure current service provision delivers on contractual and funding commitments while delivering an effective service to carers that delivers outcomes and delivers KPIs (inc. Hospitals contract, Carer Training Programme and Wellbeing Practitioner)
  • You will oversee and work within the Carers Hubs across Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS foundation Trust and to effectively form relationships with NHS and primary care
  • Collect data and monitor and evaluate activities to ensure outcomes are achieved and documented
  • Adapt the Carer Training Programme to meet the needs of carers, to deliver contract outcomes
  • Be a designated safeguarding lead for the organisation, working with other DSLs to ensure that policy and procedures are followed and reviewed

Team management and development

  • To effectively manage and motivate team members and volunteers in line with organisational policies, including induction, supervision, appraisal and training
  • Ability to influence and motivate staff to deliver challenging targets
  • To oversee a team of volunteers and Carer Champions to reach and engage hidden carers and raise carer awareness within primary care, hospitals and other clinical areas
  • To oversee manning of the hubs including training and supporting volunteers

Other responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to good practice, changes in legislations, adhering to, reviewing and/or developing policies and procedures as appropriate
  • Ensure personal information is collected, stored, and managed appropriately ensuring confidentiality of information and compliance with Data Protection legislation and guidelines
  • On request, take responsibility for assigned areas of organisational risk
  • Monitor and maintain a safe and secure working environment at all times
  • Participate in training and other organisational briefings and activities and maintain an up to date knowledge of carers needs and Carers in Bedfordshires services
  • Attend regular supervision sessions and staff/team meetings
  • Undertake such personal training as may be required to keep up to date and fulfil professional requirements
  • Have a collaborative and flexible approach to work
  • Some evening and weekend working may be expected as part of your designated hours, and occasional nights away from home may be required
