Job summary

This is an exciting time to join East Kent Hospital University Foundation Trust and in particular the Community Child Health Service.

The service works out of 5 areas across East Kent with Consultants leading a multidisciplinary team including Speciality Doctor/ Psychologist/ Specialist Nurse/ SLT/OT and PT.

Feedback from last RCPCH review (June 2017) included 'met enthusiastic, happy and dedicated teams' 'Saw evidence of innovative working and service improvement' and 'evidence of good use of multidisciplinary teams, and effective skill mix including specialist nursing roles, and trainees. We heard glowing praise for the support provided by the administration teams.'

We are currently seeking a Consultant (10 PAs/ job) to join our multi-disciplinary. We work with children and young people aged 0-19 with a range of difficulties including developmental delay, developmental disorders, complex neuro-disability, as well as acting as Medical Advisor in relation to Adoption work.

Main duties of the job

Person Specification

Qualifications and training

Essential

  • Medical qualification or equivalent and appropriate Royal College membership or fellowship or equivalent
  • Full GMC Registration
  • High Diploma (Fellowship or membership) of speciality college
  • Applicant to evidence that they are within 6 months of CCCT and is expected to achieve a CCT.

Desirable

  • Other higher degree or diploma

Skills and experience

Essential

  • Has completed higher specialist training in paediatrics including 2 years of Community Paediatrics or Neuro-disability
  • Experience of completing IHAs for LAC

Desirable

  • Has completed GRID training in Community Child Health.
  • Trained in Child Sexual abuse work.
  • Court skills and report writing as well as court experience Training in ASD tool e.g. ADI, ADOS
  • Adoption work

Clinical governance

Essential

  • Knowledge of principles of clinical governance and appraisals

Personal/professional attributes

Essential

  • Effective communicator and team player
  • Self-motivated to be able to develop their speciality
  • Ability to adapt to changing roles and clinical practice
