Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Humber and North Yorkshire (HNY) Endoscopy Network as a Strategic Lead on a 12 month fixed term/secondment basis.

The Humber and North Yorkshire Collaboration of Acute Providers (CAP) are looking for an experienced senior leader with endoscopy expertise and experience in leading either clinically or operationally in this area.

You will provide senior leadership and management expertise to maintain and strategically support the growth and development of the HNY Endoscopy Network. This exciting new role will involve a close working relationship with both the endoscopy clinical lead and director of diagnostics and is a real opportunity to make a difference to patient outcomes.

A key part of the role is to undertake effective business development activities and relationship building with key stakeholders. This will include working with partners and monitoring policy developments and guidance to anticipate likely future needs. You will use your network of relationships to work in partnership with others to develop a HNY Endoscopy service delivery model for the future that will achieve person-centred and population focused outcomes.

The vacancy is a 12 month full time fixed term or secondment position over 5 days, Monday-Friday, home working/acute trust site.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will, amongst other duties:

  • Lead the process for developing a strategic clinical vision for the Humber and North Yorkshire Endoscopy Network with particular emphasis on shared working, efficient use of resources and sustainability.
  • Engage with clinical teams and managers to provide expert advice, leadership, and support to help facilitate the consistent delivery of care in line with national strategies, outcome frameworks and NICE guidance.
  • Drive the Network in taking forward initiatives
  • Support the development of Endoscopy Network policies and pathways, including Operational Policy, Audit, Research and Development, Clinical Governance, Performance Management in association with key stakeholders.
  • Report to the Chair of the HNY CAG on all matters pertaining to endoscopy.
  • Establish working relations with key clinical and managerial stakeholders across the ICS area. Also, to establish regional and national relationships with wider stakeholders (e.g. professional Colleges, AHSN, Health Education England, academia, commissioners).
  • To represent the ICS at national meetings and events ensuring that the views of the Programme are fully promoted.
  • To work in partnership with the Regional and HNY - ICS Medical Directors, leaders from other Networks, ICS work stream managerial leads and relevant local leads in the development of cross cutting area-wide plans in relation to key areas including: workforce, service models, facilities, innovation and technology.

Person Specification

Knowledge, Training & Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in an NHS acute hospital.
  • Significant experience of working at a senior level as an endoscopy nurse/nurse endoscopist or senior level operational role within an endoscopy service.
  • Educated to Masters level or equivalent level or equivalent experience of working at a senior level in specialist area. Knowledge and understanding of current challenges and expectations within NHS endoscopy services.
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD).

Personal Attributes

Essential

  • In depth expert knowledge acquired over a significant period of time in the area of endoscopy pathways.
  • Subject matter expertise across a number of key areas relating to endoscopy pathways.
  • Proven and significant leadership experience and/or formal management qualification.
  • Proven senior level experience of leading and delivering complex change and strategy development programmes in a politically sensitive and complex environment.
  • Significant management experience at senior level in the NHS or other public healthcare related industry.
  • Experience of successfully operating in and delivering priorities in a partnership environment. Experience of leading major change initiatives with entrepreneurialism in a challenging organisational environment. Significant experience of managing and prioritising a large budget with solid knowledge of financial process requirements. Extensive experience of delivering presentations to large groups of stakeholders in often pressured and politically sensitive environments.

Desirable

  • Experience and/or understanding of the UK Health Economy
  • Significant experience and understanding of proven implementation of project management methodologies or a Prince 2 or managing successful projects practitioner.
