Main duties of the job

To work as part of a multi-professional team providing palliative nursing care interventions for patients and their families in the Inpatient Unit, Community, which will include our telephone advice and visiting and outpatient services. To provide the highest standard of palliative care nursing to people living with advanced, serious, life-limiting illness to support their personal priorities and preferences enabling them and their families live as well as possible and to experience compassionate end of life care.

    Person Specification

    Qualifications

    Essential

    • Current NMC registration.

    Desirable

    • Evidence of recent CPD
    • Mentorship qualification
    • Working towards a degree in professional practice or Palliative Care or willingness to undertake

    Experience

    Essential

    • Previous experience of working in a clinical setting
    • Experience of working with vulnerable adults
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Understanding of current professional nursing issues relating to palliative care
    • Ability to demonstrate initiative and prioritise workload and also work autonomously.
    • Computer literate
    • Knowledge of Data Protection principles and Information Governanc

    Desirable

    • Previous hospice palliative care / oncology experience in palliative care
    • Experience in research audit, standard setting and/or clinical governance
    • Experience in delivering training.
    • Experience in the management of complex needs and medicines management at the end of life.
    • Ability to demonstrate effective delegation and leadership skills
