We are currently looking to recruit a keen, enthusiastic and highly motivated Clinical Support Worker to join our Cambridge Community Adult Eating Disorder service, based within the grounds of Addenbrookes Hospital, in the vibrant University City of Cambridge.

It is a very exciting time to join our services, with plans in place to develop our excellent staff team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in our pathways and medical monitoring service for those suffering from eating disorders.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to work collaboratively and independently, with supervision within our service. Safe medical monitoring of patients form the key elements of this post and you will be required to undertake medical monitoring visits to patients in their own homes and to set up outpatient medical monitoring clinics. Training and supervision will be given. You will facilitate 'well being' calls to patients and will have a role in supporting carers/significant others.

There will be the opportunity to develop in your role, enabling you to practice a range of core physical health skills and a good knowledge of eating disorders. Please note for this role you will be required to travel independently around the county meeting strict time deadlines. You will need to hold a full UK driving licence* and have use of a vehicle.   1. To carry out tasks as directed by senior staff, physical health monitoring investigation and including phlebotomy to take bloods as necessary.
  2. To provide delivery of high quality care and support to patients and their carers, using a person centred approach in the promotion of their well-being and recovery.
  3. To use an enabling approach to empower the service user in their own recovery.
  4. To contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of therapeutic programme of care for patients. Including motivational work.
  5. To report any changes in condition or general level of needs of service users
  6. To ensure high standard and accurate verbal/written communication about patient care with all team members
  7. To develop and maintain good relationships, communication and team work with all disciplines.
  8. To participate in the Care Programme Approach.
  9. To ensure that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standards in accordance with local and Trust policies and procedures.
  10. To comply with local and Trust policies and procedures including attending mandatory training and refreshers.

Person Specification

Education / Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to GCE/GCSE (Maths and English (or equivalent)
  • Willingness to undertake care certificate and further training relevant to role

Desirable

  • Phlebotomy training ECG training
  • Experience of providing care
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience in working with a multi - cultural community

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience of working in the NHS
  • Experience of working in a caring capacity
  • Experience of being part of a team

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working with people with mental health problems

Knowledge & Skills

Essential

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work as an active and supportive member of the team
  • Ability to observe & monitor progress & report any concerns
  • Ability to organise workload & time efficiently under supervision
  • Must hold a full UK Driving Licence
  • Ability to work within the boundary of the job description
