Job summary
Applications are invited for a full time Consultant Clinical Oncologist with Colorectal & Gynaecology cancer sites at Bedford Hospital and sessions for Radiotherapy at Addenbrookes Hospital.
This appointment will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of service for the 2003 Consultant Contract (England).
Main duties of the job
The appointee will join a team of 8 existing Oncology Consultants working between Bedford and Addenbrookes Hospitals, providing a cohesive, multi-disciplinary service for the treatment of Colorectal and Gynae Cancers; and would also work as part of the Acute Oncology Team. The posts would involve spending 2.5 days in Bedford and 2.5 day in Cambridge per week.

- Medical degree
- FRCR, MRCP

- MD or equivalent Higher Degree or evidence of relevant research
Registration

- Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
- Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (or within 6 months of receipt of CCT at time of interview) or CESR (must be on Specialist Register at time of applying)
Teaching

- Knowledge and ability to teach all grades of trainees and medical students
Desirable
- Has attended Teaching the Teachers or similar course
Clinical Governance

- Able to demonstrate a broad understanding of the principles and elements of clinical governance.
Clinical Experience

- Excellent all round experience of DGH work
- Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in Oncology
- Able to take full and independent responsibility for clinical work and delivering service without direct supervision.
