Job summary

We are looking for an experienced CAMHS Eating Disorders Practitioner/ psychological therapist to provide and support to children, young people and their families receiving treatment from the team, forming a key element of the treatment care pathway.

The post will be working as part of a highly experienced and close multi-disciplinary community team. The team is skilled, forward thinking, friendly and highly supportive delivering evidence-based treatments with young people and their families to provide the most effective treatment, which has influenced a high recovery rate. 100% of surveyed service users would recommend the service. We work using a phased family based approach with patients to empower them in taking ownership of their recovery. Working to promote recovery, build resilience, and empowerment are core.

The team covers the South Staffordshire (Stafford, Cannock, Burton, Lichfield, Tamworth, Seisdon peninsula) locality offering assessment and treatment to young people aged 8 - 18 registered with a South Staffordshire GP. The main base is in Stafford however we also have a base at Cross Street, Burton. The successful applicant will work within a specialist multidisciplinary team. Main duties of the job

  • Providing community based psychotherapeutic services to children and young people and their families who are referred to the CAMHS Eating Disorders Service
  • Working as part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team for CAMHS Eating Disorders and in an integrated way with wider teams and services to meet the needs of the CYP & Families. The post holder will provide assessment and appropriate interventions to individuals with eating disorders. This should be in accordance with NICE guidance.
  • Offering advice, support and supervision to other healthcare professionals both internal and external to the team
  • To actively participate in the development of specialist pathway for CYP presenting with ARFID (avoidant Restrictive food Intake disorder).
  • To act as Care Co-ordinator for Eating Disorder Service clients, as appropriate
  • To spend the main proportion of time engaged in or related to clinical activity.
  • The number of sessions apportioned to clinical work, research, supervision, professional and team meetings, teaching or training and continuing professional development will be agreed with the Team Leader.

  • Professional Qualification in one of the following: Nursing - RMN, Social Work, Clinical Psychology, relevant psychotherapy/Allied Health.
  • Professional registration with HCPC, NMC or equivalent

  • Eating disorders specific training - Family based treatment for Anorexia Nervosa (FT-AN), CBT- ED

  • Evidence of extensive post registration experience with working with those who may experience complex mental health needs in the community setting
