Applications are invited for a 10 PA Consultant Medical Oncologist/Late Cancer Treatment Effects Lead

This is a new position for a Consultant in Medical Oncology with a significant interest in cancer-related toxicities, specifically late and long-term cancer treatment effects working primarily at The RM but in close collaboration with ICR and research partners within the Imperial AHSC, Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, the Oncology-Translational Research Collaboration. The post is funded by the RM/ICR BRC and by the RMCC.

The post-holder will focus on late treatment effects for lymphoma and expand the research portfolio to studies addressing treatment effects involving other tumour types. They will work closely with the Theme Lead and Deputy Theme Lead for the BRC Cancer Treatment Effects theme to provide leadership of the emerging portfolio of late effects studies in line with the Theme aims.

They would serve as champion for late treatment effects research and innovation more broadly within the RM/ICR BRC. They will report and be accountable to the Director of Clinical Research and the Medical Director.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be expected to have a track-record in cancer-related late or long-term toxicities. Ideally, they will have appropriate peer-reviewed publications and have attracted peer-reviewed grant funding/fellowship and/or industry funding.

Person Specification

Status

Essential

  • Eligible for full GMC registration
  • CCT in Medical Oncology or equivalent (or within 6 months of CCT at date of interview)
  • Membership of the Royal College of Physicians or equivalent qualifications
  • Higher Research Degree (MD, PhD or equivalent)
  • Demonstrable experience in the management of cancer patients

Experience

Essential

  • Appropriate site-specific clinical experience in lymphoma
  • Leading on design, set up and conduct of clinical and translational research protocols
  • Proven publication track record in high impact peer reviewed journals

Desirable

  • Proven publication track record in high impact peer reviewed journals
  • Experience in developing research collaborative groups
  • Experience of working across institutions
