An exciting opportunity has arisen
for an enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated Registered Nurse to work in a
unique role within the GP Choices Team and work alongside the Occupational Health
Mutli disciplinary Team
You will provide support, advice and signposting
to staff working in GP surgeries across County Durham and Darlington. You will
support with, the line management of juniour staff and the development of the GP Choices service
Main duties of the job
You will be working in a small team alongside the larger
occupational health team. The role is to support all staff working in GP
Surgeries throughout County Durham. You will be trained to perform management
referral assesments, signpost staff to suppportive resources available and
write reports to managers with recommendations for supporting staff at work.
You will support senior staff in the development
of the service after analysing data and performing audits

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Job description
Job responsibilities
Support the employee to make appropriate health lifestyle
decisions, based upon current evidence and public health guidelines.
Advise managers and employees on health related issues such
as long and short term sickness absence, , rehabilitation and other matters
relating to fitness to work.
Prioritise and manage own workload.
Provide advice to clients who have sustained a blood borne
virus exposure and provide relevant follow-up action.
Under the direction of the Occupational Health &
Wellbeing Business Partner/Clinical Nurse Manager, participate and contribute
to the clinical audit process and quality issues as and when required.
Work alongside the Occupational Health and Wellbeing Team
Support Coordinator in the development of the service

Qualifications
Essential
- Registered General Nurse
- Post basic education and training equivalent to university diploma
- Occupational Health qualification or extensive demonstrable experience in a healthcare setting
Desirable
- Health and Safety Qualification & Training (NEBOSH)
- Training/Teaching Qualification
- Counselling Skills Certificate
Statutory Registration
Essential
- Current NMC Professional Registration
Special Requirements
Essential
- Professional in manner and committed to the delivery of a high standard of occupational health & wellbeing to medical and dental employees and other internal and external clients of the service
- Able to travel independently around the county to fulfil the requirements of the post
Experience
Essential
- Extensive experience in a healthcare setting
- Experience of quality and audit initiatives
- Experience in caseload management
- Knowledge / experience of line management responsibilities
Desirable
- Previous experience in an Occupational Health setting with NHS/Private Industry.
- Experience and knowledge of using recognised occupational health software system would be an advantage
Special Skills & Knowledge
Essential
- Understanding of the role of occupational health within Primary & Secondary Care
- Works under guidance of established protocols and procedures at operational level
- IT skills (including Microsoft office, word and excel)
- Basic knowledge of infection control guidelines
- Able to demonstrate professional autonomous decisions
- Understanding of management of sickness absence
Desirable
- Basic knowledge of health and well-being strategies
- Proven presentation skills or recognised teaching certificate
- Management of blood borne virus exposure within a primary care setting
- Knowledge / experience of Occupational Health IT systems and standards e.g. OPAS / SEQOHS
- Knowledge / experience of management of communicable diseases and vaccination programmes
- Basic knowledge of current health and safety legislation relevant to the National Health Service/Primary Care
