The Solid Organ Group, part of the Transplantation and specialist services division, isbased at the UKAS and EFI accredited Anthony Nolan Laboratories located at theRoyal Free site. This group provides histocompatibility and immunogenetics (H&I)services to support the Royal Free, kidney, liver and pancreatic islet transplantprogrammes.

We seek to recruit an HCPC registered clinical, biomedical scientist or a scientist withextensive experience working in H&I laboratories to join the team on a part-timebasis (0.4 WTE), working on Monday and Friday (negotiable) as part of a job sharefor a fixed-term of 1 year. The candidate should have extensive knowledge of H&Iand previous experience of performing H&I on-call work is essential. In addition, theother requirements listed in the job specification should be fulfilled.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical, Biomedical Scientist or a scientist with extensive experience working in the H&I field must be able to perform HLA typing, detect and identify HLA antibodies on the Luminex platform, and perform lymphocyte cross-matches with a flow cytometer to a very high standard. Previous experience of performing on-call H&I testing is essential and full participation in the 24/7 on-call rota is necessary

: This part-time Clinical Scientist/Biomedical Scientist position is in the Solid Organ Group located in the Anthony Nolan Laboratory, which is responsible for all aspects of Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics (H&I) relating to the renal, liver and pancreatic islet cell transplant programmes of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.

The Clinical, Biomedical Scientist or a scientist with extensive experience working in the H&I field must be able to perform HLA typing, detect and identify HLA antibodies on the Luminex platform, and perform lymphocyte cross-matches with a flow cytometer to a very high standard. Previous experience of performing on-call H&I testing is essential and full participation in the 24/7 on-call rota is necessary.

In addition to this willingness and ability to actively participate in relevant research and development, audits of activity, teaching and training in this area is also required.
