Job summary

Due to additional activity and an additional interventional suite, there is a requirement for a Consultant Radiologist to join our dynamic, forward thinking and inclusive interventional radiology team at New Cross Hospital. Post holders will have FRCR and GMC registration as well as CCT for the post (or within 6 months of anticipated receipt of a CCT at the time of interview). Its equivalent (CESR) is also acceptable.

Main duties of the job

The Radiologist will be expected to provide a wide range of both vascular and non-vascular interventional services to sustain a growing demand. We offer an on call interventional service to the wider Black Country population, so experience in emergency IR to include embolization will be expected. In addition, the successful candidate will be encouraged to contribute to the the prostate artery and uterine artery embolization services.. As a regional cancer centre, we perform renal tumour ablation and going forward plan to develop oncological interventional services for hepatobiliary cancers (to include RFA and TACE), so expertise in these areas would be favourable. As part of the Black Country vascular network, the successful candidate will have a regular commitment to sessions at the vascular hub ( Russell's Hall Hospital) where there is the opportunity to perform endovascular work (angioplasty/stenting) and join our EVAR programme (including complex fenestrated EVARs).

The appointed candidate will be expected to participate in the general radiology work of the department and other sub specialty skills are welcome and will be encouraged.

This will be finalised by agreement with the Clinical Director and Divisional Medical Director but will broadly include the following 10 Programmed Activities:

4 PA Interventional Radiology theatre

1 PA Clinic/clinical work

1 PA CT/MRI/Ultrasound

1 PA MDT

1 PA oncall

2 SPA sessions (1.5 core SPA and 0.5 on additional SPA duties)
