Job summary
Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a full time Respiratory Senior Clinical Fellow.
The clinical duties of this post will be based predominantly at the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital (NSECH); with cross site working including sessions at Wansbeck General Hospital (WGH), North Tyneside General Hospital (NTGH) and Hexham General Hospital (HGH).
The successful candidate will be given full training at SpR level in the wide spectrum of Respiratory Medicine, both on our acute Respiratory wards (including an 11 bedded Level 2 RSU unit) and in Respiratory outpatients.You will be encouraged over the course of the year to develop your skills at SpR level. You will participate in the provision of outpatient services and Respiratory procedures as well as taking a role in the current Fellow Rota covering 7 days per week at NSECH.
The post will be based at NSECH with outpatient and diagnostic commitments Trustwide; as such the post holder may be required to work at other sites within the Trust.
Main duties of the job
The post will be flexibly time-tabled to meet the demands of the service and the timing of sessions may change as the service develops.
A typical week would consist of 10 Programmed Activities (PA's);
- Inpatient care on the Respiratory wards at NSECH
- Respiratory clinics at NTGH, WGH and HGH
- Admin and audit: Regional teaching plus monthly SpR teaching
- Opportunity to attend Bronchoscopy and EBUS and Thoracoscopy.
- Contribution to the Respiratory Fellow rota.
Opportunities for personal development will be supported and encouraged - support will be available from an allocated Educational Supervisor from within the Consultant Respiratory Physician Team.
