Job summary

Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint 2 substantive Obstetric Consultants with a specialist interest in Maternal Medicine. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and ambitious team at our Birmingham Women's Hospital site which has 7,400 births per year. These are two newly established Consultant posts and we are looking for someone who is Ambitious, Brave and Compassionate and with a commitment to continually improve our services, which have just been rated green by the CQC.

Main duties of the job

The postholders will be part of the Obstetric maternal medicine service, working closely with colleagues in the direct team and across the maternal medicine network.

The successful persons will be responsible for:

Providing service and responsibility of maternal medicine clinics, pathways and working with the network

Providing lead role for fetal surveillance and Simulation

These posts are advertised as full-time roles, however applicants wishing to be considered for a position with fewer sessions are welcome to apply. The post holders are required to have full registration with the General Medical Council & a valid licence to practice medicine at this level. Person Specification

Essential and Desirable

Essential

  • oFull GMC registration
  • oMRCOG or appropriate specialist registration
  • oRelevant CCT or equivalent ('equivalence' must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC)
  • oEntry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC
  • oCompletion of Labour Ward ATSM
  • oExperience of supervising junior staff

Desirable

  • oFurther higher degree
