The Royal Devon is seeking to appoint a consultant in uro-gynaecology to join our services based at Royal Devon and Exeter (RDE) hospital in Exeter. The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues in uro-gynaecology and benign gynaecology to develop services in our Gynaecology department. Our current lead Uro-gynaecologist is due to step down in December 2024 and it is anticipated the successful candidate will take over this role during a handover period of up to 6 months. Candidates should note that there will be no obstetrics in this post

There is a strong core of general Uro-gynaecology colleagues across the trust providing a first-class multidisciplinary comprehensive service for women with pelvic floor disorders. We offer conservative treatments for stress incontinence, overactive bladder, painful bladder and prolapse together with our urology colleagues. We have a uro-gynaecology nurse specialist who runs our nurse led pessary service. We provide high vigilance surgical options for stress urinary incontinence including open colposuspension and autologous fascial sling. For patients with bowel problems, we have access to all investigations and management options in collaboration with our colorectal colleagues The successful applicant will be part of a friendly, hard-working, and motivated team dedicated to the recovery of gynaecological services and the continuous development, improvement and delivery of excellent gynaecological care. To support this, youll be encouraged and supported to participate in exciting, innovative and new service development projects within the department according to service requirements and your special interests and skills.
