Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust are currently seeking experienced Occupational Therapists to provide a high quality, responsive service for patients in and around the Buckingham community working as part of the Buckingham Rapid Response and intermediate care team.

Working in Buckinghamshire, you will be part of a 6,000 person team of highly trained clinical staff, working with a Trust whose goal is to Collaborate with each other, aspire to be the best, respect everyone, and enable people to take responsibility. The care for a population of 500,000 patients across their 3 hospital sites, local bases and the community. Their stroke service is one of the best in the region, and are a centre for burns and plastics, along with a world famous National Spinal Injuries Centre.

Main duties of the job

As an integral member of the Rapid Response and Intermediate Care service (RRIC) you will be working within the community helping patients stay in their own home, empowering recovery and preventing unnecessary hospitalisation. You will also support early discharge from hospital and patients at the end of life.

  • To have responsibility for leading and developing the Therapy team within Acute Medicine, in regard to all aspects of clinical governance within this specialty.
  • To perform specialised assessment and treatment for patients with highly complex needs, and to provide expert advice, guidance and information to health and social care professionals, carers, relatives and others.
  • To undertake all aspects of clinical responsibilities as a skilled, autonomous and advanced practitioner.
  • To actively lead development of professional and service initiatives and contribute to organisational objectives.
  • To supervise, teach and appraise Occupational Therapy staff and students within the specialty.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for the planning and delivery of Occupational Therapy within the designated area. Manage a caseload of service users with complex needs, using evidence based/person centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.

To be successful in applying for this role you will need:

  • Current relevant professional registration (HCPC Registration)
  • Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience
  • Enhanced DBS
  • Experience of working within the NHS
  • Car driver / owner able to travel to other locations within the trust using own vehicle (mileage paid)

  • University Degree in Occupational Therapy

Experience

Essential

  • Previous work experience within the NHS at Band 6 level or significant
  • experience as a highly skilled band 5

Desirable

  • Experience of leading a team/ junior staff
  • Previous work experience within the NHS at Band 7 level
  • Minimum 2-3 years working as a registered practitioner within UK/NHS
