Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, Locum GP to join our friendly multidisciplinary team to cover 5-7 sessions of maternity leave on a fixed term contract from September 2024.

We are a friendly, dynamic, and innovative Practice who work closely as a team to deliver high standards of patient care serving over 10,000 patients.

There are strong relationships between our staff team, wider community and with our patients. Birchwood understands the value and importance of each interaction with our patients and ensures that each member of our team is fully supported. We are looking to maintain this culture and evolve our services, making them work for our patients, our staff, and the practice in the changing modern primary care environment.

We are part of Poole North PCN and benefit from additional services from an enhanced care team which includes, Pharmacist team, MSK practitioners, Social Prescribers, Health Coaches, Teenage counsellors & Mental Health Nurses.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide excellent patient care
  • The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
  • Participate in setting standards for care and auditing clinical outcomes.
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
  • Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary or generically whenever this is clinically appropriate.

About us

You will be joining a team that includes 4 Partners, 2 Salaried GPs, 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Practice Manager, Deputy Practice Manager, IT & Operations Manager an excellent nursing team, medical secretaries and admin team. We are a training practice and regularly have GP registrars placed with us and medical students at various points in their training. You will be well supported and enjoy daily lunchtime catch-ups with the clinical team

  • Experience of QOF and clinical audit

  • Ability to work well within a Practice team.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification, to hold a current certificate of prescribed experience.

Desirable

  • MRCGP Post graduate diploma in an area of interest (eg pediatrics/O&G) LoC-IUT LoC-SDI.

Experience

Essential

  • Full registration with the GMC. Listed on the UK Medical Performers List. Must meet professional health requirements in line with GMC standards/Good Medical Practice.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in primary care
  • Experience of working in a GP practice
