Main duties of the job

You will be an advocate for our clients, working closely with them to identify the physical, psychological, spiritual and social support they need. The postholder will work flexibly providing a high standard of nursing care in a variety of settings, promoting the health and well-being of clients whilst maintaining a safe, caring and therapeutic environment. As a Substance Misuse Nurse you will participate as an active member of the nursing and multi-disciplinary teams, accountable for your practice, and work in partnership with other health care professionals, psycho-social case managers, patients and others in the delivery of care.

Job Purpose As our Substance Misuse Nurse based at HMP Lincoln, you will provide a range of Health and Wellbeing, and harm reduction interventions to our clients in accordance with the agreed model of service delivery. You will deliver high standards of nursing care to substance misusers and be responsible for the assessment of care needs, development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. Shifts include 1 x 07:00-21:00, 2 x 07:00-16:00, 1 x 07:00-15:00, over 7 day period, 1 weekend in 3. Benefits

    Person Specification

    Qualifications

    Essential

    • Registered Nurse with Valid registration via the NMC
    • Should you be successful in your application, you will be required to provide 3 years' worth of references and where applicable, will need to undergo an enhanced DBS check

    Experience

    Essential

    • Demonstrable experience of comprehensive assessment of need including risk assessments
    • Knowledge of safe storage, handling and administration of drugs in particular controlled drugs
    • Knowledge and understanding of NMC code of conduct
    • Knowledge of risk assessment and management and its implementation
    • Understanding of the roles, responsibilities and structures of agencies involved in responding to drug and alcohol issues
    • Demonstrable ability to work constructively with a wide variety of groups and individuals in a range of settings and work roles
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
