Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward thinking and quality driven cancer team. The candidate will be passionate and have a problem-solving approach. They will be working with the Lead Cancer Nurse in the development of cancer nursing within the Trust. This post holder will work very closely with the Cancer Management Team and the Survivorship Lead. They will be responsible for identifying the education and training needs of personnel involved in delivering cancer services to inform both local and network-wide education and training provision. They will be part of a team supporting the development of cancer nursing services and patient engagement. Within this role they will be working with the ICB, local Trusts, Macmillan, other charities and the third section.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will also undertake the line management of Oncology and Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialists and will be supporting the Macmillan Unit Manager and clinical staff in their developing practice, to ensure delivery against CQC standards, CQUIN and other quality developments and targets. They will lead on the patient environment and cleanliness issues and facilitate Infection Prevention priorities across Specialist Medicine. Working in conjunction with the Lead Cancer Nurse and the Macmillan Unit Manager they will ensure that key performance indicators are identified and will work with the team on ensuring any improvements needed are implemented.

Education and qualifications

Essential

  • oAppropriate Clinical NMC Registration,
  • oA first degree in a health-related area.
  • oAbility to study at master's level.
  • oEvidence of current continuing professional development.

Desirable

  • oCompletion of a research module/ course.
  • oCompletion of a leadership programme/course.
  • oMaster's Degree

Experience and knowledge

  • oDemonstrated history of post registration experience in the specialist area
  • oExperience at Band 7 level as a ward/service manager in an acute or relevant setting
