Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Occupational Therapist - Trusted Assessor Delivery, to assist to develop and implement a Trusted Assessor Framework that will be used across Health and Social Care in South West London (Sutton, Kingston, Croydon, Merton, Wandsworth and Richmond).
We know that the trusted assessor role is invaluable, and recognise the need to develop, support and retain trusted assessors in our workforce.
The framework will develop the knowledge, competencies and skills of trusted assessors and support them in carrying out their role such as prescription of equipment and adaptations to maximise independence for vulnerable adults and promote efficiencies.
In the role, you will also assist to develop and implement standard operating procedures for equipment prescribed by Trusted Assessors. You will forge links with training providers to ensure that the trusted assessor training provided meets the needs of South West London partners.
You will assist to evaluate the effectiveness of the Trusted Assessor Framework using outcome measures and report on key performance indicators. You will also assist to gain feedback from residents to shape your work and take strengths and outcome-based approaches.
You will provide direct support to trusted assessors through forums and joint work to support their development.
Reporting to the Lead OT for Trusted Assessor Delivery and you will receive monthly supervision and guidance, as well as informal support.
Main duties of the job
You will have a demonstrable record of continuing professional development and relevant post graduate qualification or training in specialist knowledge and skills. You will have substantial experience of equipment provision, relevant legislation and guidance. You will be passionate about the development of others through supervision or other forms of learning and support. You will have experience of working with internal and external stakeholders, and representing and promoting OT services.
You will have extensive experience prescribing equipment and adaptations.
You will have experience of providing supervision to staff and students.
You will work autonomously and have experience of managing projects. You will have excellent communication skills and have the ability to work collaboratively across partner organisations.

Job responsibilities
The Senior Occupational Therapist will assist to develop a Trusted Assessor Framework
across South West London (SWL), and contribute to implementation of the use of the
framework and support to trusted assessors.
To collaborate with accredited or in house
trusted assessor training providers and universities (Roehampton, Kingston and LSBU) to
promote and enable Trusted Assessor training to meet the needs of the SWL
Occupational Therapy workforce.
To guide, support and mentor Trusted Assessors to
maintain and develop their skills through regular forums and direct support. To support the
manager to develop and embed a culture of learning and improvement through
supervision, mentoring, sharing of best practice knowledge, research and the competent
application of legislative frameworks.
The focus will be on support to trusted assessors,
whether they have the title of Occupational Therapy assistants, assessment officers,
Occupational Therapy technicians or newly qualified Occupational Therapists, who have
done the trusted assessor training in the last 2 years.
Trusted Assessors are key to supporting the provision of services across Health and
Social Care. They may have different job titles across the various organisations, they
include staff who are not registered with HCPC and are supervised by occupational
therapists.
A Trusted Assessor can provide a timely response to referrals received and
can keep an individual safe and independent at home, prevent or delay hospital and care
home admission. Following trusted assessor training, they are able to prescribe low level
equipment to individuals, and the people caring for them, to maintain a safe environment.
Thus enabling occupational therapists to focus on more complex work where their skills
and time are required.
