are currently providing these opportunities within the dietetics team. The
trust is delighted to offer the opportunity to a motivated individual who will
work with a range of patient including those with adult diabetes and weight
management
Working in Buckinghamshire, you
will be part of a 6,000-person team of highly trained clinical staff, working
with a Trust whose goal is to Collaborate with each other, aspire to be the
best, respect everyone, and enable people to take responsibility. The care for
a population of 500,000 patients across their 3 hospital sites, local bases and
the community. Their stroke service is one of the best in the region, and are a
centre for burns and plastics, along with a world famous National Spinal
Injuries Centre.
Main duties of the job
Providing dietary advice to
patients and carers referred in the acute and community settings, with
particular focus on the specialist condition of the patient.
Making dietary recommendations
after calculation of nutritional requirements based on interpretation of
biochemistry, anthropometrics, anatomy and physiology, clinical
condition/prognosis and other physical parameters.
Developing effective
dietetic care plans with patient centred goals, and advise on use of
prescribable nutritional formulations. To provide appropriate treatment,
monitoring and review of patients dietary needs.
Accurately recording all
assessments and interventions in medical notes, nursing documentation and
dietetic records in line with Trust and departmental policies. To communicate
in writing with other agencies including GPs, community nurses and dietitians
about patient care e.g. prescription requests for nutritional products, home
enteral feeding forms.
Providing dietary advice in
dietetic and consultant led clinics
Working autonomously to
effectively time manage and prioritise individual workload, balancing patient
caseload and non-patient related work demands. Prepared to work flexibly as a
member of multidisciplinary teams.
Using interviewing and
negotiating skills to communicate advice appropriately and effectively to
patients, families, carers and health professionals.
Liaising with home enteral
feeding dietitian for patients being discharged with artificial nutrition.

Job description
Job responsibilities
Under direction, assess and monitor patients, offering
therapeutic dietary advice and education, to a range of patients including
those in a defined specialist area.
Provide specialist nutritional and dietetic advice to
medical, health care professionals and other agencies.
Contribute to the nutrition and dietetic service as a whole through
participation in service development.
Working with the dietetic and
multidisciplinary teams, to be an educator in diet and nutrition. Communicating
appropriately and effectively to plan, deliver, evaluate and develop projects,
education sessions, health promotion activities and group activities with
patients, carers, families, staff, student and other professionals medical and
non-medical. To provide up-to-date dietary information and training, to help
improve evidence based and best practice.

Essential
- HCPC Registration & Enhanced DBS
- University Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working within the NHS
- Experience in assessment and treatment of malnutrition, artificial nutrition support, interpreting anthropometrics and biochemistry; MDT working, discharge planning and onward referral/signposting
