Job summary

The Care of the elderly department are recruiting a trust grade doctor to join the team on the wards across Gloucester Royal and Cheltenham General hospitals. There are 4 inpatient wards as well as a Frailty assessment unit across the two sites. The successful applicants will gain experience across a wide range of geriatric medicine while supporting the wards.

Main duties of the job

The role is suitable for anyone who has completed their Foundation Programme Year 1 (or equivalents) and has an interest in developing their skills in geriatric medicine.

The successful candidates will work under a senior doctor's supervision as appropriate.

Their is an opportunity to join the out of hours rota for medicine, which will further develop skills outside of geriatric medicine.

The role will be largely ward based supporting patient care and ward based duties.

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Trust (GHNHSFT) was formed in April 2002 and became a second wave Foundation Trust in July 2004. We are a large organisation providing acute services from Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in Gloucester and Cheltenham General Hospital. In collaboration with the other NHS Trust in Gloucestershire (GHC - who provide physical health, mental health and learning disability services), we provide COTE services across our County of 1,220 square miles.
