Job summary
We are looking for an experienced Practice Nurse to join our friendly
practice working 16-24hrs per week. The practice nurse will work as part of the
Kings Medical team- made up of two GP partners, a nurse practitioner, two
Health Care Assistants and Administerial Staff. We are a medical training
practice and you will also work alongside Registrars and FY2 Doctors.
Main duties of the job
The practice nurse will be required to provide childhood and adult immunisations, cervical smears, wound care, venepuncture, chronic disease monitoring, ear irrigation, contraception and routine injections

Job description
Job responsibilities
Practice nurses job is to deliver basic practice nursing care such as supporting patients to recover, monitoring conditions of patients, screening and health prevention activities. A practice nurse works collaboratively with general practitioners to provide assessment, treatment, education, and care to all kinds of patients, ranging from infants to elderly people.
- Assessing
and providing care to patients with uncomplicated wounds.
- Implementing
and participating in immunisation and vaccination programs for both
children and adults.
- Supporting
and advising women regarding family planning needs.
- Implementing
and evaluating separate treatment health plans for long-term condition
patients.
- Taking
urine and blood samples, smears, swabs and specimens.
- Performing
routine procedures like ear syringing, treating wounds, and
applying or removing dressings.
- Providing
advice or offering specialist information in areas like blood pressure,
heart conditions, giving up smoking, weight control.
- Administering
infant vaccinations and injections.
- Restocking and maintaining consulting and clinical areas.
- Taking accurate and comprehensible notes regarding patients consultations and treatments.
- Updating details about patients and their treatments in the clinical computer system.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- Degree in adult nursing
- Qualifications in cervical cytology, immunisations (adult and child)
Desirable
- Qualifications ear syringing and chronic disease monitoring
Experience
Essential
- Previous experience in GP practice or similar setting preferred
