Are you experienced within Pharmacy? Do you have an all-round knowledge of hospital procedures? Are you available to start immediately in a new role? You will be responsible for accurately and safely providing necessary care to patients engaging with the service in the Trust. You will maintain key relationships with co-workers and other health care professionals across the Trust to ensure an effective service.

Job Title: Pharmacy Support Worker

Grade: Band 3

Ward/Dept: Pharmacy

Trust: Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

Location: Prospect Park Hospital, RG30 4EJ

Hours: Full Time - 37.5 hours per week, Mon-Fri 09:00-17:00

Pay rate: Day £12.45

Prospect Park Hospital is the main site for people in Berkshire with mental health conditions. They have a number ofinpatient wards, including a specialist dementia ward, and a specialist unit for people with learning disabilities. They also have a healthcare library which is open to all staff, other local trusts and medical students.

RESPONSIBLE FOR:

Ensuring an efficient stock distribution service including the participation of ward stock top-ups on both CHS and MH wards within BHFT, as well as making sure transport of medicines to offsite wards and departments complies with Standard Operating Procedures.

Identifying any discrepancies in stock levels, to investigate and correct as appropriate, under the direction of the Procurement Manager and to take part in the weekly and annual rotational stock checks and expiry date checks.

Ensuring that all invoices and credits are consistent with goods received or returned on the pharmacy computer system, and to resolve discrepancies when appropriate. In addition, authorise invoices and credits and forward completed paperwork to the Accounts Department in accordance with the suppliers terms and conditions of payment.

Processing pharmacy orders and invoices in an accurate and timely manner and to work in the dispensary, labelling and dispensing pharmaceutical products when as needed by the service.

Assisting the technical staff in providing an efficient stock distribution service across Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and to maintain an orderly and efficiently run pharmacy stores.

To be successful in applying for this role you will need:

Minimum NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualifications

Previous hospital experience is desirable but not essential

Experience working in a dispensary environment is desirable

Experience working in a stores/ procurement environment is desirable

In addition to experience, all Qualified roles will be required to provide evidence of

  • Relevant Qualifications
  • Registration with the relevant Registration Body if applicable.
