Job summary

This post offers an exciting opportunity for an ambitious psychiatrist to support a unique NHS trust going through transition and maintaining safe and effective services during this period. Post-holders will be expected to take on an active role providing consultant leadership and oversight that could include inpatient care, recovery service, early intervention in psychosis service, crisis resolution and home treatment as well as adult (ageless) community mental health services.

Main duties of the job

*To support and help develop the integrated care pathways.

*To provide statutory clinical reports as requested.

*To apply an evidence-based approach to clinical practice.

*To provide clinical leadership in psychiatry to the multidisciplinary team, in co-operation with the Service Manager.

*To promote multidisciplinary working.

*To support the development of a seamless service and continuity of care which are patient centred and respect social inclusion and cultural diversity.

*To provide clinical support and supervision to multidisciplinary teams, including complex risk assessments.

*To undertake Section 12 and Approved Clinician duties related to the Mental Health Act (1983), with reference to the current Code of Conduct of Practice.

The final combination of Southern Health and Solent Trusts is anticipated to occur in July 2024, when the new organisation will be formed.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full GMC Registration with license to practice
  • Section 12 Approval Approved Clinician status MRCPsych
  • Relevant CCT or CESR

Desirable

  • Eligibility for inclusion on the Specialist Register via CCT in General Adult Psychiatry (or within 6 months at time of interview) or equivalent
  • Relevant Higher Degree e.g. MD, PHD, MSc or other additional clinical qualifications

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in Adult Psychiatry
  • Knowledge of UK Hospital Systems (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge and evidence of participation in CPD (including being in Good standing with the College for the purposes of CPD)

Desirable

  • Experience of providing ECT unsupervised.

  • 2.Where applicable, overseas applicants have required scores in the GMC approved English Language test. E.g., In Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) show a score of at least 7.0 in each domain (speaking, listening, reading and writing) with an overall score of at least 7.5 to be achieved in a single sitting and within 24 months of the time of application.
