Job summary

Allendale Road Surgery is seeking an enthusiastic and committed GP to join our friendly and supportive practice as a Salaried GP to cover 3-5 sessions/week.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a high caliber, dedicated and forward thinking GP Practice and support our high standards of clinical care with a strong patient-centered focus. This is a varied role that offers clinical, administrative, teaching and leadership opportunities.

Salary negotiable, based on experience;

6 week annual leave and 1 week study leave pro-rata.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will manage clinical caseloads and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care and maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

About us

We are a small, friendly and well-organised GMS practice based in leafy Greenford serving approx. 4700 patients. The GP Principal is supported by a brilliant team of clinical and administrative staff that enable the practice to deliver safe and effective patient care.

We are a part of NGP PCN and have access to a very supportive team of PCN practices and ARRS roles.

The Practice has an in-house multi-disciplinary team that consists of Doctors, Clinical Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technician, Social Prescriber, First contact Physio Practitioner, Mental Health link worker, Nurse, Nurse Practitioner and HCAs.

In addition to all core services, we provide Paediatric phlebotomy, Coils/Implants, Pessaries and Joint injections.

We use SystmOne and embrace a digital first approach.

We have a Good CQC rating and high QOF and Enhanced service achievements.

We host year 5 & 6 medical students for teaching and encourage a culture of feedback and learning for all staff. We also support the wellbeing of our team with Coaching and Mentoring.

Job Summary

To work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the GMS contract. Furthermore, the post-holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide a full range of medical services as defined in the core GMS contract, additional and enhanced services where appropriate.
  • Provide other general medical services to meet identified patient need.
  • Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems whether self-referred, or referred from other healthcare works within the organisation.
  • Assess the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • Develop care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice; disease management protocols, provide counselling and health education.
  • Work within current CCG policy for prescribing.
  • Be available and accessible to patients at all times as agreed.
  • Maximise the effective use of current clinical computer systems. Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to an agreed standard.
  • Compile and issue computer generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand written prescriptions whenever possible).
  • Undertake all duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care. (These duties will include reports/cremation forms. The fees for this work would be retained within the practice budget).
  • To take part in, and lead on, areas including clinical auditing and data collection.
  • Support under-graduate student training in the surgery.
  • Support GP registrar training in practice.
  • Support supervision of ARRS roles.
  • Attend team meetings and other clinical meetings as necessary
  • Provide short term emergency cover for unplanned absence of colleagues
  • Provide emergency on call cover for the practice.

Service Development

  • Be involved in developing primary care services to meet the needs of the practice population.
  • Working in close collaboration with the practice team to ensure that access targets are reached.
  • Support health development and ensure health promotion work is undertaken to allow the practice population to make informed choices.

Managerial

  • Awareness of, and compliance with, all relevant organisation policies and procedures, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety and infection control. Apply these to all aspects of ones own work.
  • Undertake all mandatory training as determined by the practice.
  • Committed to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based practice.
  • Contribute to evaluated audit and clinical standards setting within the organisation.

Quality

Adhere to GMC Good Medical practice.

Maintain accurate and timely medical records.

Adhere to National and local guidelines (e.g NICE)

Engage with local quality frameworks e.g. QoF, Quality Improvement, Local Enhanced Services, Prescribing Incentive Schemes
