- oMBBS or equivalent
- oFull GMC registration with a licence to practise

- oIntercalated Degree
- oMSc or PhD
- oAcademic excellence (prizes, merits, distinctions etc.)
Experience

- oClinical experience in General Surgery at Foundation Level
- oEvidence of participation in Research and Clinical Governance
Desirable
- oExperience of emergency duties at middle grade level
- oPortfolio and logbook evidence of ability to undertake a range of emergency general surgery procedures with minimal supervision.
- oExperience of involvement in NHS Quality Improvement work
Additional Clinical experience
Essential
- oTraining to CT 2 level
- oExperience of Emergency General Surgery
Desirable
- oLogbook evidence of undertaking cholecystectomy/appendicectomy
- oWorking towards MRCS completion

- oEffective and demonstrable communication skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues
