Qua

Essential

  • oMBBS or equivalent
  • oFull GMC registration with a licence to practise

Desirable

  • oIntercalated Degree
  • oMSc or PhD
  • oAcademic excellence (prizes, merits, distinctions etc.)

Experience

Essential

  • oClinical experience in General Surgery at Foundation Level
  • oEvidence of participation in Research and Clinical Governance

Desirable

  • oExperience of emergency duties at middle grade level
  • oPortfolio and logbook evidence of ability to undertake a range of emergency general surgery procedures with minimal supervision.
  • oExperience of involvement in NHS Quality Improvement work

Additional Clinical experience

Essential

  • oTraining to CT 2 level
  • oExperience of Emergency General Surgery

Desirable

  • oLogbook evidence of undertaking cholecystectomy/appendicectomy
  • oWorking towards MRCS completion

  • oEvidence of effective team and multidisciplinary working
  • oEffective and demonstrable communication skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues
  • oUp to date with current medical practices

  • oValues aligned to those of the Health Board
