Job summary

We are seeking registered nurses to work within our Endoscopy team. The ward you will be working on is busy and demanding but also rewarding and challenging with opportunities to learn and develop.With a firm belief in education you will be supported in your nursing development with an open door policy to the senior sister so you know you can always rely on having an ear to discuss your future and progress.We strive to treat all staff fairly with respect and to develop you in your chosen pathway so that we mutually benefit from working together to give the best patient care we can.You will need very good communication skills to network closely with other departments and multidisciplinary teams, and excellent patient care to manage your caseload of patients.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be expected to:

Carry out planned care for a group of patients without direct supervision

Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based, individualized patient care

Undertake nursing procedures and support patients undergoing endoscopic procedures

Manage patients in a safe and timely manner through the Endoscopy pathway, identifying patient needs and taking action as required to manage or escalate to the coordinator or Endoscopy manager

Carry out Endoscopy unit /Directorate/Divisional/Trust audits as required

Participate in the Endoscopy nurse on-call rota and help to improve patient outcomes

Assist and advise junior staff in the delivery of patient care

Job responsibilities

As an Endoscopy practitioner, youwill be responsible for the total nursing care of individual patients within the recovery area and ensure recovery criteria is adhered to before discharging patients. In addition to this, youwill also actively contribute to the maintenance of an environment that is conducive to the delivery and promotion of a high standard of patient care. You may also be required to support other departments such as outpatients and the ward from time to time.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse
  • Level 2 Numeracy and Literacy

Desirable

  • Previous experience of speciality.
