Job summary

Support the existing dermatology team in providing a dermatology inpatient and outpatient service, dermatology opinions for inpatient referrals, and Electronic Advice & Guidance (Teledermatology service) to GPs.Support the development of the Dermatology service, including to promote and maintain close links with the commissioners, community dermatology and neighbouring trusts for local dermatology service. Participate in weekly MDT meetings.Work closely with and help supervise the multi-professional group within the dermatology department. Participate in supervision and training of other healthcare professionals, including GPs with Extended Roles in West Dorset, according to local agreement between Dorset County Hospital, commissioners and other providers. Actively participate in the teaching programme for undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff. Contribute to Clinical Governance and Audit.

10 PA's - Job Plan to be confirmed / negotiable depending on the skill mix / subspecialty interest of the successful candidate. Also to include participation in the 9-5 weekday on-call Dermatology rota (covering ward referrals), and Electronic Advice & Guidance service (to GPs).

Person Specification

Education, Qualifications & Training

Essential

  • Full GMC Registration
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Dermatology via; oCCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview oPortfolio pathway (previously referred to as CESR)
  • An appropriate higher surgical/medical qualification

Experience & Knowledge

Essential

  • At least 4 years supervised training in a Dermatology Specialist Registrar training programme or equivalent
  • Experience demonstrating potential ability to cope with the demands of a District General Hospital-based Consultant

Current Skills & Abilities

  • Willingness and ability to fulfil the general service elements of the job description
  • Evidence of the clinical skills required to fulfil the specialty and sub-specialty elements of the job as in the job description and technical specification
