Permanent

£43,742 to £57,349

Job summary

Are you passionate about working psychologically with young adults? Would you like to be involved in shaping a new service?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time band 7-8a Psychologist or Cognitive Behavioural Therapist within North Lincolnshire's new ARMS (At Risk Mental State Service). You will play a significant role in developing a new service for 14-35 years old who are deemed at high risk of developing psychosis, alongside a consultant psychologist. ARMS services work holistically with young people to prevent or delay the onset of psychosis and improve quality of life. We want the philosophy underpinning the service to be trauma informed, strengths based, family inclusive and recovery orientated.

Depending on prior experience, this role would provide clinical leadership for the ARMS pathway with support from the acting consultant Psychologist for EIP.

The post-holder will have a high degree of autonomy, with freedom to organise their workload depending on need. The successful candidate will be required to provide specialist CBT and family interventions, as well as other psychological interventions where clinically indicated (e.g., EMDR, CFT, ACT). Training can be provided as part of the role to develop skills in different psychological interventions (e.g., family interventions, CBT for Psychosis).

For an informal discussion please contact Chris Sanderson [email protected]

Main duties of the job

The ARMS service will work closely with the Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) service. You will work closely alongside another psychological practitioner and mental health nurse, with supervision from a Consultant Psychologist or Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. You will be the lead professional for most clients on your caseload, with additional support offered by a mental health nurse for those people with more complex presentations.

You will be connected to a wider team of psychological professionals in North Lincolnshire, including Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, Cognitive Behavioural Therapists, Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioners and Assistant Psychologists. We have good links with local CBT courses at the University of Hull. Within our team, we currently undertake a mixture of home and office based (hybrid) working depending on the needs of the service. You will be expected to offer appointments in people's home and in clinics, as well as attending team meetings. The role may include audit, service evaluation and research.

Applications are invited from qualified cognitive behavioural therapists or psychologists with prior experience of working within Adult Mental Health and who are passionate about early intervention and working with young people with psychosis.

The post holder would provide clinical leadership for the ARMS service, which would include supervision, governance, triaging referrals and leading on liaison with other services.
