Job summary
Due to ongoing service expansion, we are
seeking to recruit a highly motivated, enthusiastic Radiographer for our
London Diagnostic Services, specifically covering North East London.
The role will be situated across both of our
mobile units at Barking Community Hospital and Harold Wood Polyclinic where we
provide non-contrast MRI scans.
To succeed you must be experienced and have
excellent communication skills and a flexible, proactive approach to delivering
first class diagnostic services and patient care.

Main duties of the job
In this varied Radiographer role, you will have to demonstrate your highest level of patient care as well as providing comprehensive and effective high quality MRI service for NHS clients. You will contribute to providing a high
quality, efficient and effective MRI service, with responsibility for the
day-to-day running of the MRI list, MRI safety management, quality management
of equipment and images, and administrative duties as required to maintain an
efficient service.

Job responsibilities
Job Purpose:
- To contribute to providing a high
quality, efficient and effective MRI service, with responsibility for the
day-to-day running of the MRI list, MRI safety management, quality management
of equipment and images, and administrative duties as required to maintain an
efficient service.
- To report to and support the Lead
MRI Radiographer with the running of the MRI service.
- To ensure an exemplary level of
customer service is upheld to patients, consultants and the clinic team at all
times.
- To perform a range of general and
specialized MRI examinations, maintaining the highest professional and
technical standards, whilst promoting high professional and ethical standards
of clinical practice to ensure that all aspects of clinical governance are
fulfilled.
- To promote the highest quality
healthcare as part of the multidisciplinary team and maintain a high
professional and technical standard through personal Continuing Professional
Development.
- To manage the MRI workflow and
ensure all data input is recorded accurately for both patient record integrity
and statistical evaluation purposes.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- To exercise the highest standard
of patient care and actively improve the patient experience.
- To act as the MRI authorised
Radiographer and uphold best practice with regard to MRI safety.
- Performing pre-examination safety
check with patients and staff.
- Perform MRI examinations either in
person or as part of the team, maintaining high professional standards and
supporting and monitoring the quality standards of the directorate.
- To demonstrate a specialist skill
in adapting technique to achieve high quality diagnostic products in patients
whose condition would otherwise prevent this, without compromising care, this
involves frequent dealing with patients who are in pain and distress, and
claustrophobic patients.
- Giving highly specialised advice to other radiographic
staff about the clinical management of patients.
- To provide a safe environment for
both staff, patients and visitors, complying with current legislation relating
to all aspects of health and safety, MRI safety regulations, reporting any
untoward incidents and having involvement in risk assessments, and incident
reporting.
- To vet specific MRI requests as required
with advice and guidance from the Clinical Director.
- To ensure that all equipment servicing is
carried out to the required standards and any faults are reported to the Lead
Radiographer and recorded. To liaise with engineers as required when the Lead
Radiographer is absent.
- To ensure equipment quality
assurance is carried out as required and to seek advice from appropriately
qualified advisors on MRI safety and quality assurance as appropriate.
- To uphold all relevant safety and
recommended guidelines.
- To be conversant with the patient
RIS/PACS system, understanding the appointment and bookings system
- To work with the Lead MRI
Radiographer to ensure turnaround times and strategic targets are adhered to at
all times, and any non-conformances are managed and/or justified appropriately.
- To participate in the extended
working day and bank holiday rota as appropriate. To be flexible with shift
patterns in view of staffing levels and training needs.
- To actively participate in
clinical and service audit or research to improve and monitor service.
- To monitor and maintain stock levels for
consumables and contrast media and liaising with appropriate staff.
- To participate in any appropriate
clinical/communications meetings
- Assist in the induction and training
of new staff.
- To ensure that urgent findings are
communicated with clinicians accordingly.
- To ensure appropriate consent has
been acquired depending on the imaging protocol.
- When exposed to bodily fluids,
contamination should be avoided in line with Health and Safety and disposed of
appropriately. This matter should be dealt with efficiently and discretely.
General Responsibilities:
- To ensure that all information of
a confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third
parties.
- To notify the Lead MRI
Radiographer or the Clinical Services Manager or the Manager in Charge, as soon
as possible of your inability to report for duty.
- To adhere to all Company policies
and procedures within the defined timescales.
- To complete and adhere to all
Mandatory Training requirements including the management of health and safety,
risk management and adverse incidents.
- To maintain a professional
appearance and manner at all times.
- Partake in the appraisal scheme
and to ensure that objectives are supported and met within available resources.
- To maintain accurate departmental
records and ensure conformance to the Data Protection Act, Caldicott Principles
and Code of Conduct to ensure that appropriate security measures are in
operation at all times
